The Women's Business Council Southeast goes back to its roots: The Ohio Women's Business Enterprise Council, a "One Stop" Resource" for Diverse Suppliers and Women in Business Procurement!

 
 
 
Columbus, Ohio-February 29, 2008- The Women's Business Council Southeast is going back to its roots, the Ohio Women's Business Enterprise Council, Inc. Although no longer affiliated with WBENC, the OWBEC will continue to provide services to women in business and will continue to assist with market access. The mission of the OWBEC continues to be to increase business opportunities for women-owned businesses and provide qualified suppliers to buyers.
 

The OWBEC operates as a full-service purchasing council for certified businesses and corporations/purchasing entities with supplier diversity objectives. The OWBEC offers partnerships to major corporations/purchasing entities and to diverse businesses. Corporate partnership is open to corporations/purchasing entities with Supplier Diversity Programs, while women in business status is available only to businesses that meet the public and private sector certification criteria. To utilize the services of the OWBEC, the women business or diverse business should be certified. OWBEC is currently a Partner with the National Emerging Markets Diversity Council Inc. and the Council for Growth Market Enterprises Inc, the nation's only organizations that brings together certified diverse businesses throughout the nation. The OWBEC will continue to facilitate women business growth through certification packaging; procurement education and training; and relationship building through networking events and trade fairs.

 
"Going back to our roots will give us the opportunity to solidify our customer base and provide more specialized services to businesses within the state of Ohio, states Board Chair Monica Stith, CEO of ML Sales & Associates. We recognize that Ohio has over 269,267 privately-held majority (51% or more) women-owned firms, according to the Center for Women's Business Research. The OWBEC can provide assistance by creating an environment that assists them to get into the mainstream of Ohio's economy through supplier diversity. We are no longer limited in our scope. We have exciting programs coming up that you do not want to miss! We look forward to the expansion of our customer base and working with those corporations and government agencies who are truly looking for diverse suppliers."
